Apparently, We're Going to Yellowstone

I don't quite remember how or when we decided on a five-week road trip to Yellowstone National Park. I suppose "takin' it on the long haul" was a natural next step for us.
The Seasonal Lot (camper #1)

We did the permanent/seasonal lot situation for four years. Can't beat the convenience of arriving at camp with little to no setup.
But the same destination every weekend?
We thought we were more adventurous than that.
The Bumper Pull (camper #2)

After four years parked, we bought a camper to take on the road and started doing long weekends, venturing out farther and farther, but typically capping our travel time at seven hours or less.
New settings. New places. This is fun!
Except it wasn't.
Despite years of troubleshooting weight distribution and experimenting with sway bar systems, the bumper pull never towed well. It had a mind of its own on the highway, compounded by the fact that my husband did the "bruh" thing to his pickup—leveling, chunky tires, and all the things guys do to make their trucks look tough.
So the camper wasn't happy.
Neither was I.
This 'Lil Guy (camper #3)

Then something magical happened.
The F350 tow vehicle turned into an F450 Dually.
And the bumper pull swapped for a fifth-wheel toy hauler.
Suddenly, new possibilities opened.
We could do more. Go farther. And the garage could double as a mobile office.
I build websites for a living, and I can work from anywhere with an internet connection. My husband is a math professor, and when he took a sabbatical this year, it seemed like the perfect time to test our long-haul skills.
So here we are.
So Here We Are
Tomorrow morning, it's wheels down.
We're setting off on a slow-paced trek across the country: Pennsylvania to Montana and back, taking tiny hops along the way and spending a little time in each state we pass through.
No more than four hours a day in the truck. Some days less.
The journey has to be enjoyable.
It cannot be rushed.
And I'm going to write about it.
What's that going to look like?
Dunno.
What exactly is this blog?
Also dunno.
I figure it'll unfold however it unfolds.
And if you're here in August 2026, you're here at the very beginning.
Let's see what happens.
